Kassy Heard

Kassy Heard is from Mt. Pleasant, MI, but moved to Lac du Flambeau, WI, three years ago. She lives with her partner of 12 years, James, and their 14-year-old nephew, Christopher. They also share space with their young dog, Bubba, and two cats, Pretty Kitty and Oliver. Kassy loves living in Lac du Flambeau because of the environment. She loves the tall pine trees and amazing bodies of water. Swimming is one of Kassy’s favorite things to do there but also in the Great Lakes. She also likes sewing, painting, crocheting, cooking, baking, singing, and dancing.

Kassy works for Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council as the Tribal Technical Assistance Center Program Director. Her primary role is to provide Older Americans Act technical assistance and support to the eleven Tribal Aging Programs of Wisconsin. Secondary to that role, she works with the Senior Medicare Patrol as a representative for all Tribal communities of Wisconsin. Prior to working at Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Kassy worked for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in the Human Resources department doing recruitment for 13 years. She also worked for the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel for two years as the Assistant to the General Manager. Kassy says supportive roles are the type of work she does well in.

Kassy likes the work she does for the Senior Medicare Patrol because it’s important. It is important to put the necessary tools in the hands of Elders and their family members so that they are empowered and more protected against Medicare scams and fraud.
