Arlene Crane
Arlene is from New Hampshire and moved to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota in the mid-70’s. In 2017 she and her husband, Doug Winther sold their house in Minneapolis and retired to their vacation home in Prescott, Wisconsin. Arlene has three granddaughters: one is a high school junior, and the other two are in middle school. The granddaughters lived within a half hour drive from Arlene and Doug, but still referred to their home as “the cabin”. Arlene and Doug enjoy outdoor activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking and especially boating on the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers. Arlene spent most of her career working in human resources, specializing in HR management systems and employee benefits. She spent a short time volunteering for Senior Linkage Line in Minnesota. There she enjoyed helping seniors with Medicare enrollment questions. Pierce County, Wisconsin, though, didn’t have a similar volunteer opportunity. However, through some networking, Arlene learned of a volunteer opportunity with the SMP program. She connected with the volunteer coordinator and joined the SMP volunteer team in 2019.
